Every August, throughout the world, children are dressing up and enjoying sweets and pink lemonade, at their very own ‘Ava’s Tea Party’. Ava was a sweet little 3 year old, known to her parents as a ‘Super-Princess’. Sadly Ava was taken too soon in a tragic accident at her home. This August she would have turned 8.
Ava’s mother, Sheye Rosemeyer, approached Belle & Boo’s Mandy Sutcliffe to create a series of beautiful images memoralising Ava, including the image above entitled ‘Ava’s Tea Party’. Attending a tea party was something very important to Ava and her parents encourage you to hold your own Tea Party and share the images on the Ava’s Tea Party Facebook page.
From Ava’s sad passing has come the introduction of ‘Ava’s Rule’, an important initiative highlighting the dangers of children being trapped in hot cars. Please take the time to read it and talk to your children about it.
Jeepers there are some talented invitation designers out there. What’s quite amazing is that some of them are generous enough to offer their designs for free. This beautiful 1st Birthday printable set has been designed by Bridgett from Perideau Designs. It includes invitations, thank you cards and 2″ and 3″ circles. You can download the set here, at Oh My Handmade, togethe with a wide range of other, beautifully designed free printables.
American craft queen Martha Stewart is a gem! She’s come up with this fabulous idea of ‘memory jars’ for capturing kids memories. They can collect and store souvenirs or a collection of their favourite bits and bobs in jars, which can be displayed and rearranged at their whim. This is a great, accessible alternative to sticking souvenirs in a scrap book or photo album.
I just love the website Ikea Hackers. It’s a fabulous site showing you different ways you can ‘hack’ or turn your standard Ikea products into wonderful customised products for your home. This play table is a Lack table, painted with chalk paint and includes a bucket for holding chalk.
There’s plenty of ideas for kids, including this great idea of taking Ikea Bekvam Spice Racks and turning them into book racks. They retail for only AUD $2.49 each! What a great idea.
